East Brunswick To Hold Candlelight Vigil Marking 25th Anniversary of 9/11

The township will hold a ceremony and candlelight vigil at the Municipal Complex.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — East Brunswick will hold a ceremony and candlelight vigil Sept. 11 marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The event will take place from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Municipal Complex. Residents are invited to join the township in remembering those who were lost and honoring their memory.

Nearly 3,000 Americans were killed in the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, when hijackers flew planes into the World Trade Center's twin towers in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and crashed a fourth plane in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Ceremonies marking the anniversary are also planned across the country, including at the 9/11 Memorial in Lower Manhattan, where the names of the victims will be read aloud.
