EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — East Brunswick Township and Board of Education leaders will hold the first of what officials say will be regular meetings on Monday.
The township laid out the timeline in a press release on Friday.
According to the township, Board and township leaders met on Oct. 13 and agreed to set up regular meetings "to strengthen communication and identify opportunities for both entities to work together."
The township said it emailed on Oct. 19 to propose Nov. 2 as the date for the first meeting, and all parties confirmed it the next day.
Mayor Brad Cohen announced the meeting date at the Oct. 26 Township Council meeting. He also listed possible topics for future discussion, including shared services, PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) revenue, security and use of facilities, along with "other matters of mutual interest," the township said.
Township officials said they plan to use the first meeting to set a schedule for future sessions and pick discussion topics.
"This will allow both entities to ensure that the appropriate individuals are at the table, bringing the necessary knowledge and perspectives to facilitate meaningful, productive conversations," the township said in the release.
"We look forward to beginning this collaborative effort and continuing to build a positive working relationship between the Township and the Board of Education," the statement added.
The release did not say where or when on Nov. 2 the meeting will take place, or whether it will be open to the public.
