Shen Yun Performing Arts returns to New Brunswick's State Theater on Oct. 28

Wrapping up its 2011 performance season, the world-renowned classical Chinese dance company Shen Yun Performing Arts will return to New Brunswick’s State Theatre for an encore performance on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature audience favorites from the past five seasons. Among a dozen dances that tell stories from classical Chinese literature and history, the audience will get to revisit such stories as the tiger-taming hero Wusong from “Outlaws of the Marsh,” or adventures of the Monkey King from “Journey to the West.”

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts was established in 2006 with the mission of reviving 5,000 years of divinely-inspired Chinese culture.

Shen Yun presents colorful and exhilarating performances of classical Chinese dance and music. A performance by Shen Yun is a presentation of traditional Chinese culture as it once was: a study in grace, wisdom, and the virtues distilled from the five millennia of Chinese civilization.

Every year, Shen Yun unveils an entirely new lineup of dances, songs, and musical scores. At the core of Shen Yun’s performances is classical Chinese dance with China’s numerous ethnic and folk dance styles rounding out the evening.
