Arooga's, A New Sports Bar/Grill, Opens In East Brunswick

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A new bar and grill just opened this past weekend in East Brunswick: Arooga's. Arooga's Grille House & Sports Bar just opened their doors Sunday, March 11 at 1031 Rt. 18, in the Coral May Plaza shopping center.

The restaurant says they have the "tastiest wings served with award-winning proprietary sauces, fresh, never-frozen Kobe burgers, delicious 'sandwedges,' garden-fresh salads made from local produce and unique appetizers." There's also an outdoor patio with outdoor TVs. The name "Arooga's" is derived from the sound of a Model-T car horn, a restaurant spokeswoman told Patch.

They also offer a rotating selection of 40+ craft, imported and domestic beers.

This is the second Arooga's in New Jersey: A second Arooga's is already in operation on Rt. 22 in North Plainfield. The Arooga’s company, a franchise, was founded by Gary Huether. Arooga’s currently has 15 locations, including franchises in Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York and Massachusetts, along with 10 corporate (non-franchise) locations in central Pennsylvania.

In 2010, Huether won 2010 America’s Next Hot Restaurant Franchise competition, which helped him launch the franchise.

The owner of the East Brunswick location is franchisee Igor Zak, a Holmdel resident who additionally owns nine Dunkin' Donuts franchises in New Jersey, reported MyCentralJersey. Zak owns the Dunkin' Donuts at 680 Rt. 18 North in East Brunswick.
