Bikes Are Being Stolen In South River, Police Say

The South River police department has seen an increase in bicycle thefts over the month of July, they said.

SOUTH RIVER, NJ — Heads up if you live in South River: The South River police department has seen an increase in bicycle thefts over the month of July, they said.

In all cases, the bicycles stolen were left unlocked in yards, parks and sidewalk areas. South River police would like to remind residents to properly secure their bicycles with locks at all times in public areas. In addition, bicycles should be stored inside when not in use instead of being left outdoors.

Bicycle owners are also reminded to keep a record at home of the color, model and serial numbers of any bicycles they own. In the event you become a victim of bicycle theft, this information helps our investigation and increases the likelihood your property can be recovered and returned to you.
