1 Dead, 2 Hurt After 2 Trucks Crash On N.J. Turnpike: Cops

​A man was killed and two others were hurt in an accident involving two trucks on a major N.J. highway Monday night, police said.

A 50-year-old man was killed and two others were hurt in an accident involving two trucks on a major New Jersey highway Monday night, police said.

Segundo Tenemea, of Belleville, was pronounced dead at the New Jersey Turnpike scene of the truck collision in Edison at mile-marker 88, Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams of the New Jersey State Police said.

The crash, involving a box truck and a tractor trailer, occurred around 6:26 p.m. on the northbound outer roadway, police said. The accident happened when the two trucks were traveling northbound, police said.

The box truck was in the right lane and the tractor trailer was in the center lane when they made impact and went to the left side. They then struck the left guardrail and then a concrete barrier.

Both went back to the right and struck the curb and ramp near Exit 10. The tractor trailer jack-knifed while the box truck overturned and went down a grassy hill. Tenemea was trapped in the box truck and was pronounced dead at 7:07 p.m., police said.

The truck lanes were closed for four hours afterward.

Two other people were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, but no other information was immediately available.
