A 21-year-old Camden man has been sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey state prison for the carjacking and kidnapping of a 79-year-old.

A 21-year-old Camden man has been sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey state prison for the carjacking and kidnapping of a 79-year-old Cranbury man.

Frankie N. Gonzalez must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

He was found guilty of carjacking, kidnapping, criminal restraint, armed robbery, eluding police, resisting arrest, terrorist threats, burglary and theft on October 9, 2014.

It was around 10:25 a.m. on July 29, 2013 when Gonzalez approached his victim’s 2009 Mercedes CLK as it stopped at a red light on Route 130 north at the Dey Road intersection.

Gomez entered the vehicle, claimed to have a gun, and ordered the 79-year-old to drive around on Route 130 before he released him on North Main Street in Cranbury.

He was stopped a short time later by Hightstown police, but fled west onto Route 195 where he crashed on the off-ramp and was apprehended by State Police.
