Cocaine, Marijuana Sold From East Brunswick Hilton, Cops Say

Police say they recovered 24 pounds of marijuana and cocaine being distributed from the luxury hotel just off the Jersey Turnpike and Rt. 1.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A South Brunswick man and Brick woman were arrested for selling large amounts of cocaine and marijuana out of the East Brunswick Hilton, East Brunswick police said. Police say they recovered 24 pounds of marijuana and cocaine being distributed from the luxury hotel just off the Jersey Turnpike and Rt. 1.

The arrests took place on Feb. 22 of this year, but police just announced them today, Friday, May 11.

Members of the East Brunswick Special Investigations Unit say they received a tip about a man selling a large quantity of cocaine and marijuana at the Hilton hotel. After an extensive investigation, members of the East Brunswick Special Investigations Unit and Detective Bureau, with the assistance of the Middlesex County Narcotics Task Force, Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit and Hilton hotel security, executed a search warrant and recovered five kilograms of cocaine (approximately 11 pounds) and 13 pounds of raw marijuana.

The street value of the drugs recovered is estimated at $450,000, police said.

Jonathan Reyes, 24, of Kendall Park and Alyssa Ugarte, 24, of Brick were taken into custody on February 22 and charged with possession and distribution of cocaine and marijuana. Both Reyes and Ugarte were transported to and detained at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility in lieu of a bail hearing.
