Dog Rescued From Burning Buick In Middlesex County

Witnesses alerted the owner, who was inside a convenience store at Route 27 and Henderson Road in South Brunswick.

A pug named King was rescued from a burning Buick Thursday in South Brunswick.

The car fire in the parking lot of Quick Chek on Route 27 and Henderson Road, also led to a brief evacuation of the store, police said.

At 12:30 p.m. South Brunswick Police, the Kendall Park Fire Department, Monmouth Junction Fire Department and Kendall Park First Aid Squad responded to the fire.

Witnesses told police the owner of the car was in the store when a passerby told him that his 1994 Buick was smoking.

The 61-year-old North Brunswick man left the store and got his dog out of the car.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in ten minutes.

The strip mall of stores re-opened about a half-hour later.

No one was injured, but the car was destroyed.
