Driver Crashes Into Pole, Brings Down Power Lines In East Brunswick

Route 18 near Arthur Road was closed early Thursday morning as repairs were made.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ —On Thursday morning, a driver crashed into utility police in East Brunswick, bringing down power lines and closing Route 18 for around two hours.

Around 4:30 a.m. a vehicle traveling north on Route 18, when it hydroplaned and struck a utility pole near Arthur Street, police said.

The driver refused medical attention at the scene, according to authorities.

As a result of the crash, power lines came down across all northbound and southbound lanes.

Police closed the road for around two hours until repairs were made. Currently, all lanes are open.
