Drug Dealer Crashes, Flees Scene Trying To Escape East Brunswick Officer: Police

A drug dealer got into a hit and run crash after he tried fleeing from police when he was caught selling heroin to a woman: police

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A Somerset drug dealer was involved in a hit and run accident after he tried fleeing from police when he was caught selling heroin to a woman, East Brunswick Police Anti-Crime Unit reported.

Shabazz Muhammad of Somerset was seen selling heroin to Judith Spear of Old Bridge from his 2005 Acura in the Brunswick Square Mall parking lot on July 28 around 6:25 p.m., police reported.

Police approached Spear and arrested her after she walked away from the car while Muhammad fled the scene, police reported.

A police chase continued onto Route 18 north by Cindy Way by the Anti-Crime Unit but was terminated almost immediately due to Muhammad’s erratic and reckless driving, police reported.

A short time later, it was reported that Muhammad was involved in a hit and run accident on Old Bridge Turnpike at the intersection of Parker Street and fled the scene towards Edgeboro Road.

Patrolman John Sisolak observed Muhammad's car and arrested him after he saw him on foot near Brick Plant Road.

Spear was charged with Possession of Heroin, Distribution of Heroin and Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substance in a school zone and she was released pending court.

Muhammad was also charged with Possession of Heroin, Distribution of Heroin and Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substance in a school zone, as well as Eluding and Aggravated Assault.

Muhammad was transported to MCACC. Bail was set at $35,000 with no 10 percent.
