Candlelight Vigil For 9/11 Victims In East Brunswick On Saturday
A candlelight vigil will be held at the Municipal Complex on Sept. 11.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — On the 20th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, East Brunswick will be holding a remembrance ceremony.
At 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 11, a candlelight vigil will be held at the Municipal Complex to honor those who lost their lives.

Monmouth County plans to light up the shoreline by getting residents and elected officials to turn on their cellphone lights at 8:46 p.m, honoring "the heroes" of September 11, 2001.
"These lights are a symbol that we will never forget, and we will always rise above tragedy," said Commissioner Deputy Director Susan M. Kiley. "For the families of those lost and to those who are still fighting illnesses stemming from the cleanup, please know Monmouth County will never forget. We especially remember the 147 men and women who called our county home."

Nearly 3,000 Americans, including residents from East Brunswick, were killed in the suicide attacks carried out by 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaida on Sept. 11, 2001.
All victims will be remembered at memorial services planned across the nation, including East Brunswick, to mark the 20th anniversary of the attacks.
