East Brunswick Bicyclist Hit In Hit And Run

The incident happened Saturday on Rt. 27 near Raymond Rd. in South Brunswick Twp.; he needed to be hospitalized.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - An East Brunswick man out riding his bike Saturday in South Brunswick Township was hit by a white pick-up truck that fled the scene. The man survived the incident, but his injuries were serious enough to require hospitalization, South Brunswick police said.

The 67-year-old man was riding his bicycle north on Rt. 27 near Raymond Road when he was hit Saturday. A vehicle struck his rear tire and knocked him from the bike. He was thrown to the roadway and received abrasions and contusions to his back and shoulder. He was treated and released from an area hospital, South Brunswick police said.

An eyewitness described the vehicle as a white pickup truck, possibly a landscaping truck, with commercial writing on the side. The truck turned onto Raymond Road and was last seen headed towards Rt. 1. Anyone with information is asked to call South Brunswick police officer William Beard at (732) 329-4000 ext. 4446.
