East Brunswick Blizzard 2026: School Closures, Canceled Services, What You Need To Know

Here's the full breakdown of suspended services and township operations during the storm:

EAST BRUNSWICK,NJ — East Brunswick Public Schools and all township municipal offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, as a major winter storm brings blizzard conditions to New Jersey. All after-school and evening activities have been canceled.

As a result of Monday's closure, East Brunswick Public Schools will add a makeup instructional day on Monday, March 30.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill declared a state of emergency as the storm moved into the state, with 21 counties under a blizzard warning. The National Weather Service forecast 10 to 20 inches of snow, with the heaviest snowfall expected Sunday night into Monday morning. Wind gusts in coastal counties could reach 55 mph, with snowfall rates possibly exceeding 2 inches per hour.

Coach USA has suspended all bus service on Monday. The Township Council meeting previously scheduled for Monday has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7:30 p.m.

Solid waste collection is canceled on Monday, and the Recycling Center will be closed. No makeup schedule was announced.

Residents are asked to stay off all district properties until snow removal operations are complete.

The East Brunswick Department of Public Works will plow and salt all 174 miles of municipal roadways. Middlesex County is responsible for county roads; the New Jersey State Department of Transportation handles Route 18.

Crews will prioritize emergency access first, followed by curb-to-curb clearing beginning with major township roads before moving to side streets and neighborhoods. The process will continue around the clock.

Officials urge residents to avoid unnecessary travel, especially overnight and into Monday morning, and to expect drifting snow, reduced visibility and icy conditions.
