EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The East Brunswick Board of Education unanimously approved two shared service agreements with the township at its Feb. 5 meeting. The agreements formalized partnerships for use of a newly opened ice arena and summer camp transportation.

The board added the agreements to its Business and Support Operations agenda during the meeting and approved both items 11 and 12 by roll call vote, with all eight members present voting in favor.

The first agreement grants the township use of the ice arena, a facility that recently completed construction and opened to the public. Board member Wilbur Pan said he had seen the facility during construction and called it "wonderful," though he had not yet visited since its opening.

The second agreement provides for the school district to offer transportation services for township summer camps, continuing a practice from previous years.

Pan characterized the agreements as "a really good sign of the partnership that we have with the township" and said he looked forward to continuing the collaboration.

Joseph Crotchfelt, BOE Secretary and School Business Administrator emphasized the collaborative nature of the arrangements, noting that both the board and township contributed to the effort.

"It's a team effort," he said. "A lot went into it back and forth, but it's for the betterment of the community as a whole, and it's reflective of the board's direction moving forward."

The agreements were among 12 Business and Support Operations items approved at the meeting. The board did not disclose financial terms or specific details of either agreement during the public session.
