East Brunswick A.C. Moore Closing; Company Started In NJ

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The A.C. Moore in the Midstate Mall off Rt. 18 in East Brunswick will be closing, as the company is shutting down all A.C. Moore locations in the country. A.C. Moore stopped taking online orders this past Monday, Nov. 25.

The company is a New Jersey institution, as the first A.C. Moore store opened in Moorestown, New Jersey in 1985. The company is now owned by Nicole Crafts.

A.C. Moore operates 18 stores in New Jersey (see list below). Up to 40 of their stores across the nation will be become Michael's, the crafts store. However, those locations have not yet been named.

A.C. Moore is a craft stores, plus they also sell seasonal decor and do custom framing.

The closures are due to "headwinds facing many retailers," said Anthony Piperno, A.C. Moore CEO.

"For over 30 years, our stores have been servicing the creative community with a vast selection of art and craft materials, with one common focus, the customer. Unfortunately, given the headwinds facing many retailers in today's environment, it made it very difficult for us to operate and compete on a national level."
