East Brunswick To Celebrate Arbor Day With Tree Seedling Giveaway

New Jersey is making free seedlings available throughout the state to help tree lines recover after losses from Superstorm Sandy.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Do you want to plant a tree in your community? This is your chance. Free seedlings will soon be available in the area.

Every year, the state makes free seedlings available throughout New Jersey in an effort to help New Jersey's tree line recover after significant losses from Superstorm Sandy.

The seedling giveaways occur around Arbor Day, which is on April 29 this year.

A seedling giveaway will take place at 3 p.m. on April 29 at the Municipal Complex/Veterans Park & Municipal Pond, 1 Jean Walling Civic Center Drive. Click here for all seedling-pickup locations and instructions on planting them.

The Arbor Day Foundation has been working to bring back New Jersey's tree line since the 2012 superstorm. The New Jersey Tree Recovery campaign partners the foundation with the New Jersey Forest Service. The partnership has distributed over 300,000 trees, but many more are still needed, according to the Arbor Day Foundation.
