East Brunswick Earns Tree City USA Designation for 45th Year
Last week, Mayor Brad Cohen proclaimed April 29 as Arbor Day in the Township.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — East Brunswick was recently awarded the Tree City USA designation for the 45th consecutive year, the township said.
The township received the designation by the National Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to community forestry.
Last week, Mayor Brad Cohen and Council members visited Central Elementary School to proclaim April 29 as Arbor Day in the Township.

"I urge all citizens to plant trees to gladden the hearts and promote the well-being of present and future generations," Cohen said.
During the event, music and vocal teacher Maia Kauffman led students in songs that reinforced the importance of planting trees and protecting the environment.

The Township's Shade Tree Program, managed by the Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services, cares for more than 30,000 street-side trees in East Brunswick.
