EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — With East Brunswick starting the school year on Sep. 8, many families are struggling to find ways to get children ready to take on the new year. The local East Brunswick Brownie Girl Scout Troop #81624 decided to come together to help families in need.

On Sep. 3 the troop delivered backpacks and school supplies for needy children in their schools.

After speaking with a few school principals, the troop put together 30 backpacks. Each backpack was filled with school supplies like notebooks, folders, pencils, crayons, markers, erasers, and more.

The troop assembled all of this while maintaining social distance, and in assembly line system. All backpacks were donated to various schools in Central Jersey. The backpacks also contained a personal note of encouragement.

The troops wanted to show that “we are all here for one another and will get through this tricky year together,” said Troop Leader Julie Peysakhov.
