East Brunswick Invites Residents To Rediscover The Outdoors

This spring and summer, East Brunswick Recreation wants residents to embrace 'friluftsliv' - the Nordic concept of getting outdoors.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — As the frozen grounds have begun to thaw, East Brunswick is inviting residents to explore the great outdoors.

So it's time to forget 'hygge' — the concept of embracing anything cozy —and welcome 'friluftsliv.'

Friluftsliv is the Nordic concept of getting outdoors. The Scandinavians have a great passion for nature and this expression literally translates as “open-air living.” It was popularized in the 1850s by the Norwegian playwright and poet, Henrik Ibsen.
