East Brunswick Payless to Close

BREAKING: The Payless in the ShopRite complex off Tices Lane will be closing.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - With the news Wednesday that Payless shoe store is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Payless announced it is closing 400 stores nationwide. And one of them is in East Brunswick.

The Payless in the Mid-State Mall on Rt. 18 will be closing. That's the Payless off Tices Lane in the ShopRite complex. The company did not say when the store would close; an employee who picked up the phone knew the store was closing, but said she had not been told of a closing date.

However, the Payless further down on Rt. 18, in the Barnes and Noble complex, will stay open. There's also the Payless in downtown New Brunswick, which will remain open.
