East Brunswick PD Recruiting For Domestic Violence Response Team
Volunteers are needed after hours and on weekends. They will have to undergo training and background checks.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The East Brunswick Police Department in collaboration with Women Aware, are looking for volunteers for the Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT).
The DVRT is comprised of trained community members who respond to the police department on an "on call" basis. They will provide emotional support, domestic violence information, legal options, community resources, and a safety plan for individuals affected by domestic violence.
The DVRT volunteers are needed after hours and on weekends. They need to undergo background checks and fingerprinting, and an interview process. They also have to complete a 40-hour domestic violence training.

Those interested in volunteering can apply at www.womenaware.net/volunteer. Women Aware is an organization that promotes safety and self-sufficiency to individuals and families affected by domestic violence in Middlesex County.
