Watch out this weekend: The police will have plainclothes officers randomly assigned to crosswalks, to see if drivers let pedestrians pass.

East Brunswick, NJ - Watch out driving around East Brunswick this weekend: Starting Thursday, the police department will have plainclothes officers randomly assigned to crosswalks in the Township, looking to see if drivers are stopping and letting pedestrians pass.

The plainclothes patrols start Thursday. Drivers are reminded that they must STOP for pedestrians in a marked crosswalk and must remain stopped until the pedestrian has finished crossing. The enforcement will work both ways: Pedestrians are reminded that they are to obey pedestrian signs and cross only when advised.
