East Brunswick officers will distribute coupons redeemable for a free small Slurpee at participating 7‑Eleven stores as a reward for “good behavior.”

Kids spotted doing random acts of kindness, good deeds or positive community activities are eligible for the Slurpee coupons.

“Appropriate “offenses” might include helping another person, wearing a bicycle helmet while riding or skateboarding, deterring crime or participating in volunteer community programs,’’ police said in a news release.

Operation Chill was developed by 7‑Eleven in 1995.

“Kids will love receiving a coupon for a free Slurpee drink and having a reason to approach kids in a positive way gives our police officers an opportunity to make connections with our community youth,” Patrolman Craig Hoover, a township Community Policing officer said in a prepared statement.
