East Brunswick Puts The Brakes On Fatalities Today

The traffic safety campaign wants to go an entire day with no traffic fatalities in the entire state

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ-- East Brunswick Police want to end traffic fatalities as part of a nation-wide effort called Put The Brakes On Fatalities Day.

The annual Oct. 10th day is meant to unite the country towards the goal of eliminating traffic fatalities entirely.

East Brunswick Police are asking drivers to be particularly careful today, including following all traffic laws to a T-- that means no speeding, not even a little bit over the speed limit.

Drivers can expect increased traffic police as the EBPD watches for motorists not doing their part to put the brakes on fatalities.

Last year, 562 people died in motor vehicle incidents in New Jersey, with nearly 30% of those being pedestrians. Nationwide, the percentage of motor vehicle related fatalities that are pedestrians is about 15%, half of what it is in NJ.
