East Brunswick School Board Gives Update On Football Field Renovations

District officials expect the field to be ready ahead of the school district's first game of the academic year.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The East Brunswick Board of Education on Thursday provided the public with an update on the football field renovations.

The paving for the new track was completed last week and the new turf is expected to arrive Friday, Bernardo Giuliana, Asst. Superintendent/Board Secretary informed Board members.

Last year, student-athletes and parents expressed concern over the poor condition of the school district's football field. The turf was "beyond its useful life" before the two Tropical storms — Ida and Henri damaged it further. The district has been working to replace the turf and upgrade track surfaces. More: Track & Field Season 'Not Likely To Happen' In East Brunswick

The next step for the district will be installing the turf and when that's completed, work will begin on the new surface on the track, Giuliana said.

District officials expect the field to be “up and running” ahead of the school district’s first game of the academic year.

Superintendent Victor Valeski said a more detailed report on the renovations will be provided to the community in August.
