EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – The East Brunswick High School Varsity and Junior Varsity recently received a mayoral proclamation for winning the state championship, for the first time in the school’s history.
During the last council meeting, members of the Junior Varsity were present to receive their proclamation from Council.
“In addition to cheering for others at athletic events, you all put in about 1 hour and 45 minutes a day practicing as a team. Then you attend an open gym to hone your tumbling skills and prepare for competitive cheering meets,” Councilwoman Dana Winston said.

The Councilwoman told everyone present that the team started solely in the winter and overtime improved and gelled as a group under the leadership of their coach.
Their determination and drive made them “unstoppable” culminating in their “incredible win” at the state championship, where they beat hundreds and hundreds of athletes from all over New Jersey,” Winston said.
