East Brunswick School PTA Sponsoring Self-Care Cart For Teachers

The PTA at Bowne-Munro school in East Brunswick is sponsoring a 'Self-Care Cart' for teachers.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – As teachers are trying their best to help students in the hybrid model, parents at a local East Brunswick school have come up with a gesture to show their appreciation.

The Parent Teacher Association at Bowne-Munro Elementary School in East Brunswick is sponsoring a ‘Self-Care Cart’ for teachers.

Donations are being accepted for unused coffee mugs, lip balms, coloring books, water bottles, hot chocolate packets, socks etc. The items will be delivered to teachers for Monday pick-me ups.

The East Brunswick school district began its school year on Sep. 8 with the hybrid model.

At a Board of Education meeting held on Aug. 20, many teachers, especially those who were immunocompromised, expressed concern about coming back to school buildings, due to COVID-19 related fears.

The school district was to release a report on the safety of its HVAC system, which has been delayed.

Since reopening, the school reported several "close contacts" with COVID-19. Recently, 10 teachers and 27 students were quarantined after coming in "close contact" with an infected person. The district said none of the transmissions took place inside the building.
