He picked up a 15-year-old boy in New York City and drove him to a Fort Lee motel, where they engaged in a sexual encounter, police said.

East Brunswick, NJ - An East Brunswick man who is a registered sex offender was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison Tuesday for bringing a 15-year-old boy across state lines, specifically to a Fort Lee motel room, to have sex with him, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said late Tuesday afternoon.

Jayme Shannon, 53, previously pleaded guilty to the Oct. 2013 incident, which occurred while he was a registered sex offender, said the prosecutor’s office. Shannon has been reported as living at times in both East Brunswick and East Windsor, New Jersey.

In September 2013, Shannon met a 15-year-old boy in the internet chat room “Chatavenue.com,” and continued to chat with him in September and October 2013. On Oct. 14, 2013, Shannon arranged to meet the teen at the Skyview Motel in Fort Lee, prosecutors said.
