EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Routine traffic stops continue to unearth drugs such as heroin and cocaine in cars in East Brunswick, police allege.

The most recent traffic stop that allegedly unearthed drugs was made Sunday, Sept. 23, police said: At about 1 a.m. that Sunday, East Brunswick police said they saw a car failing to stay in its lane on Old Bridge Turnpike and they pulled the vehicle over on Old Matawan Road.

The officer said he smelled the odor of raw marijuana coming from the car, and a subsequent search of the vehicle unearthed marijuana and cocaine inside, police said. Krystal Diaz, 28, of Old Bridge was arrested and charged with both possession of marijuana and cocaine.

Earlier in September, at 9:38 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, East Brunswick police pulled over a car at the Commons at Kingswood Drive after an officer said he observed its occupants not wearing seat belts.

Police said that two of the car's occupants, Jeremy Chisholm, 32, and Regina Schroeder, 32, both of East Brunswick, had active warrants for their arrests. Additionally, Schroeder was found to be in possession of heroin, hypodermic syringes and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Both were apprehended at the scene and taken to the Middlesex County jail.
