Eastern Mountain Sports in North Brunswick Closing

The parent company of Eastern Mountain Sports recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

North Brunswick, NJ - It's not just Sports Authority. The Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) in North Brunswick will be closing, an employee confirmed to Patch Monday.

Similarly to Sports Authority, the news comes as the parent company of Eastern Mountain Sports, Vestis Retail Group, recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. For the past five years, the sporting goods store has been located right off Rt. 1, in the North Village Shopping Center in North Brunswick.

"We don't have a set date yet, but will probably close sometime in mid June," the employee told Patch. Meanwhile, everything in the store must go, he said, including all the clothing, outdoor gear and even the store fixtures such as shelves and clothing racks. There are even things like kayak racks for sale, he said.
