What makes you the best person for this position?

I've worked in the private, government, military and academic sectors and am able to plan budgets and schedules, organize work and priorities and relate to people from various backgrounds. I have listened to residents throughout my campaign and can give them a public service energy that drives me. I'm a volunteer Firefighter in East Brunswick and retired law enforcement and I would like to serve the residents as the next member of the Town Council to make East Brunswick the best place to live.

Property taxes are always a big topic in East Brunswick. What’s your plan to keep taxes low for residents?

Let's look at our expenses. Why not get citizen input on how to spend the money? These are things that I would like to see. We have a diverse and vibrant community that needs to grow, but we need to keep fiscal responsibility in mind. We need to find ways to save money through mutual agreements and grants while being able to give back to the community. We need to see how development money can be distributed to our schools and town programs so we can keep our property taxes lower.

Development is also a big talking point in town. How would you address it?

Development and change are here; however, we need to work with developers and town professionals to keep and enhance our natural elements. We also need to think about how the influx of new residents will impact our infrastructure and first responders. We need to consider these issues before continuing our development. We need to consider traffic issues and see how town professionals and developers can work together to benefit the existing residents.

What are the major challenges facing the community and how would you address them?

We need to work with the Board of Education to see how we can continue to improve our school infrastructure while being cognizant of students with special needs. East Brunswick also needs to attract quality businesses to our area. This can be done in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce. We will need to think about how bringing entertainment and business to East Brunswick will impact traffic flow and economic development.

What sets you apart from other candidates?

I have been trained in risk management and crisis response. This will help the residents by injecting critical thinking into our community. I have served in hostile environments and needed to adjust to changing circumstances throughout my career. I have also been in charge of programs that needed leadership and guidance to build rapport among various agencies for a common good. This is the ultimate goal of government which plays to my strengths. I also have a public service background, including EMS, fire service, law enforcement and military. This dedication to duty shows that I am ready to face new and existing challenges in our community.

What according to you is the best part about living in East Brunswick?

East Brunswick is an amazing town. We have beautiful parks, an award-winning library, an outstanding first responder community and situated in a suburban setting close to thriving urban areas. Greatness can always be improved and that is what I would like to bring to my service to this community. East Brunswick has programs for youth, seniors and everyone in between. Forward-thinking can enhance these programs while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

What else would you like to share about yourself or your campaign?

My running mates and I would like to hear the concerns of our residents. We are interested in seeking the greatest good for the majority of our residents. Fiscal responsibility, development within reason, quality of life and safety are our primary concerns and focus. We represent all citizens regardless of background and take great pride in being everyday citizens like our fellow residents. Decency and respect will be our main considerations once coming into elected office.
