Event In East Brunswick To Raise Funds For Food Insecurity
Soup Kitchen 411 is hosting its annual "Taste of the State" event on May 24 at Park Château Estate and Gardens, East Brunswick.
EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Celebrity Chef David Burke will be donning his apron for a good cause on May 24.
Soup Kitchen 411 is hosting its annual “Taste of the State” event on May 24, to raise funds to fight food insecurity. The event will be held at Park Château Estate and Gardens, 678 Cranbury Road, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Soup Kitchen 411 is an organization that helps alleviate food insecurity in New Jersey and across the country, by connecting people to free meals near them. Around 13.5 percent of all residents and 19.7 percent of children in New Jersey are projected to be food insecure due to COVID-19, according to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.

During the pandemic, many restaurants shut down as they were unable to cope with economic loss. Soup Kitchen 411’s program “Feed NJ” helps tackle both – food insecurity and struggling restaurants - by purchasing meals directly from local restaurants and donating to those in need.
The May 24 event will feature tastings from a number of NJ restaurants including Red Horse by David Burke (Rumson), 1776 by David Burke (Morristown), Steakhouse 85 (New Brunswick), Nicholas Barrel and Roost (Red Bank), Butcher’s Block (Long Branch), Le Malt Royale (Red Bank) and more.

The evening will also have entertainment including performances byThe Duprees, cigar rolling on the patio by DBL, New Brunswick Jazz Project and more.
