Film Screening March 6 at East Brunswick Public Library
'Bag It: Is Your Life Too Plastic?" exposes harmful effects of plastic on environment and humans

The 2010 award-winning documentary, “Bag It: Is Your Life Too Plastic?” will be screened at the East Brunswick Public Library at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 6. The program is free and open to the public. Children 8 and older are welcome to attend.
The film exposes the harmful effects of plastic bags and other plastic consumer items on the environment and the human body. Following the film, a discussion will be led by Liti Haramaty, a marine researcher at Rutgers and board member of the Friends of the East Brunswick Environmental Commission. FriendsEBEC initiated the “Plastic-Free EB” campaign last year to reduce the use of plastic bags in the township.
“Bag It” has received multiple audience choice and best documentary awards at film festivals across the country.

The screening is part of the Option Green lecture series presented by FriendsEBEC in partnership with the library. The series features programs on a wide variety of topics relating to the environment, conservation, sustainability and the natural world. Option Green won a 2017 Environmental Achievement Award from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions.
FriendsEBEC is a nonprofit citizens group dedicated to local environmental education and conservation. In addition to Option Green, FriendsEBEC sponsors National Moth Week, Freecycling Days, Salamander Protection, the East Brunswick Community Garden, Butterfly Park, moth nights and events that help to educate the public about the environment and sustainable practices.
