EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A woman from Clark who worked as a housekeeper for a 92-year-old East Brunswick resident has been charged with stealing from the elderly woman, East Brunswick police said.
East Brunswick police were first notified on Sept. 27 that Irena Miekina, 64, of Clark, may have been stealing from the 92-year-old Cranbury Road resident. The woman's family said that thousands of dollars were missing, which they suspect was stolen. The family also said that they had witnessed the alleged thefts on the home surveillance camera.
Members of the East Brunswick police set up their own surveillance equipment inside the home and on Oct. 3, they observed the housekeeper opening a drawer and stealing over $500 in cash, police allege.
