Man, 26, Dies In Wrong-Way Crash On Rt. 130 In North Brunswick

Breaking: His Ford Fiesta may have been traveling the wrong way on Rt. 130 north at 1:30 a.m. Friday, and collided head-on with another car.

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — A 26-year-old New Brunswick man was killed Friday morning in a car accident on Rt. 130 in North Brunswick Twp., police said.

The accident involved two cars that collided just after midnight on Rt. 130 at Adams Lane. Peter Garay, Jr. was identified as the man who died. An initial police investigation shows that the 2015 Ford Fiesta driven by Garay may have been traveling the wrong way on Rt. 130 north, and collided head-on with another car.

At 1:39 a.m. Friday, April 6, police were called to the northbound side of Rt. 130 at Adams Lane, near the Renaissance Boulevard intersection.

Police found two heavily damaged vehicles at the scene. The driver of one of the vehicles was trapped inside the car, and freed by North Brunswick Fire & EMS personnel.

Garay was pronounced dead at the scene. He was alone in his car.

The driver of the second vehicle, who was also alone in his car, was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for his injuries. His injuries have been deemed non-life threatening.
