Man Killed On Garden State Parkway In Sayreville

A man, 25, was struck and killed by a car while trying to walk across the Garden State Parkway in Sayreville Thursday night.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — A man was struck and killed by a car while trying to walk across the Garden State Parkway in Sayreville Thursday night, New Jersey State Police said.

The 25-year-old man, Mohammed Sameeruddin of North Plainfield, was struck in the center lane of the Parkway as he was trying to cross in the southbound express lanes, State Police told NJ.com. The crash occurred near mile-marker 125.1 at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday. He was trying to get from the left shoulder to the right side of the highway.

It's not yet clear why Sameeruddin was walking on the GSP, police said.
