EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — A man tried to get into an East Brunswick resident's home last Friday by pretending to be with the Township water department, police said.
The incident happened last Friday, July 14 at a home on Fresh Ponds Road. At about 1:49 p.m. that day, the residents were approached by a man with a dark complexion, wearing a badge around his neck. The man held his badge up and advised the residents that he worked for the city's water department. The residents told the man their water was working fine.
The man then attempted to guide the residents into the backyard and started walking towards the back door of the house. One of the residents got between the man and the house and pushed him away. The suspect ran down the driveway towards Hardenburg Lane where a large, dark gray Toyota pick-up truck with tinted windows stopped, picked him off and drove off in the direction of the New Jersey Turnpike.
