Man Sought in Middlesex Mosque Robbery to Turn Himself In After Rehab, Lawyer Says
Police are still searching for a man who allegedly stole hundreds of dollars from a South Brunswick mosque.

A man sought in the robbery of a South Brunswick mosque will turn himself in after he is released from a stint in an out-of-state rehab facility, the man’s lawyer said according to NJ.com.
Lawrence Y. Bitterman said his client, Haziq Shah, sought in the theft, is scheduled to complete his rehab treatment in March and will turn himself into South Brunswick police upon its conclusion, NJ.com said.
Authorities have charged Shah with burglary, theft and criminal mischief relating to the November robbery of a South Brunswick mosque. Shah allegedly stole hundreds of dollars from a donations box in the Islamic Center of Central Jersey on Route 1, the news website said.

Shah allegedly entered the mosque at 7:30 p.m. and spent 45 minutes cutting through a sheetrock wall to access the donations box, NJ.com reported.
Officials said the South Brunswick mosque robbery may be linked to several others across Middlesex County. Shah has only been charged with the theft in the South Brunswick mosque, according to NJ.com.

Shah’s attorney said police are aware he is undergoing treatment and of his proposed surrender, but South Brunswick police are still considering the man as a fugitive, NJ.com said. Police are continuing to search for him.
