Man Tries to Shove Heroin Down His Pants, Police Say

A traffic stop in Spotswood for not wearing a seat belt led to 176 folds of heroin discovered, police say.

Spotswood, NJ - When Patrolman Adam Sabatino pulled over a Jeep in downtown Spotswood because its passenger was not wearing a seat belt, he never expected to find 176 folds of heroin inside the vehicle.

Shortly after 12 p.m. on Jan. 18, Sabatino pulled over the Jeep because it was weaving while it drove down Main Street, and the front seat passenger was not wearing his seat belt.

As the officer approached the Jeep, he saw the passenger, Andrae Green, 36, of Old Bridge, “trying to shove a large amount of heroin down the back of his pants,” Spotswood police said.

A search was conducted, and Sabatino recovered heroin folds with the inscription “Red Scorpion” from Green. As Green was arrested, heroin folds continued falling out of his pants, police said.

Additionally, 14 more folds of heroin with the “Red Scorpion” inscription were found on the driver’s side floorboard, police said. Driver Ross Worden, 24, of of Monroe, was also arrested and found to be in possession of 10 open folds. During the investigation, a clear bottle of methadone was also found in the Jeep.

Wordon and Green planned to sell the heroin in the Spotswood/Helmetta area, police said. The total count of the evidence seized was 166 folds of heroin (more than 3 bricks, at 50 bags per brick), 10 open folds of heroin and the clear bottle of methadone.

Green and Worden were transported to Spotswood police headquarters.
