Man Wanted In Child Rape Case Arrested In East Brunswick, Cops Say

Daniel Nieto, accused of raping a 7-year-old girl in Staten Island, has been taken into custody in East Brunswick, police say.

A man, accused of raping a 7-year-old girl in Staten Island, has been taken into custody in East Brunswick, authorities said.

Charges against Daniel Nieto, 32, are pending.

He entered the child’s Staten Island home through an unlocked back door around 3 a.m. Aug. 6 and sexually assaulted the girl in her bedroom, according to the Staten Island Advance.

When the family found him in their home, they called police, WABC News reported.

He ran away, but was found nearby, the television station said.

Nieto was initially arrested on trespassing charges, and after he was released from police custody, the sexual assault came to light, the Advance reported.

According to police twitter accounts, he was arrested Tuesday night in East Brunswick, with help from that police department.

WABC says he was taken into custody at his workplace, a restaurant.
