On Monday, October 10th, Mayor Brad Cohen and the Town Council proclaimed that the township will continue to work with the Sustainability Task Force Partners in “getting past plastic, one bottle at a time”. As well, the proclamation stated that the township will work to have continued cooperation and success in order to become a model and leader township in environmental stewardship.

Present during the proclamation were members from the East Brunswick Public Schools: Assistant Superintendent Dr. Joyce Boley, Science Teacher Mrs. Melissa Novak, student panel participant Eliza King. The posters from contest winners of the Plastic Pollution Awareness campaign, Zoe Quan, Mysha Khan, and Maha Tanveer, were prominently on display. Representatives from cooperating organizations: ADK, Hadassah, The East Brunswick Sustainability Task Force and Cub Scouts Pack 501 were in attendance. The event was standing room only.

Prior to the proclamation, Dr. Joyce Boley and Mayor Dr. Brad Cohen were presented with an advance copy of The Essential Guide to Understanding Sustainability, co-written by East Brunswick High School seniors Daivik and Shrenik Patel and Environment Expert Kathryn Nguyen.
