Mayor Highlights Year Of Achievements For East Brunswick Police
Mayor Brad Cohen spoke about the complicated nature of the job while highlighting the police department's various achievements.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — During Monday’s State of the Township address, Mayor Brad Cohen highlighted the achievements of the police department and touched upon how complicated their job was.
“Besides the 50,000 residents that live here, the department must also attend to the needs of those who work here, who operate businesses here and who travel here. All this is made more complicated due to the network of major roads that traverse our township,” Cohen said.
To help the police department, the township added more solar speed limit signs on roads.

“We added more LED solar speed limit signs as police simply cannot be everywhere in the townships 180 miles of roads,” Cohen said.
2022 was also a year of achievements for the police department.

The department was reaccredited by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.
“This designation validates the procedures, processes and training needed to operate a 21st-century police force who's charged with far greater responsibilities than ever before,” Cohen said. “Recent events on a national stage point to the importance of these issues.”
Police also participated in the Blue Care Program. The program is a drug addiction intervention initiative where police work with counselors, attorneys and prosecutors to help people charged with drug use.
The local police training facility was also awarded certification by the New Jersey State Police Training Commission to be a satellite of the Cape May Police Academy. The facility will train Class I, special police officers.
