Men Breaking Into North Brunswick Parked Cars, Police Say

Parked, unlocked cars were broken into on Glenn, Grissom and Wood avenues this past weekend, police said. This man was arrested.

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — Two men from New Brunswick were arrested in North Brunswick over the weekend after police said they were breaking into parked cars in the area.

At about 4:30 p.m. this past Saturday, residents reported seeing a man pulling on car door handles. Someone called 911, and police discovered that cars had been entered on Glenn and Grissom avenues. A man matching the description provided by the caller was seen by a police officer leaving the area on foot, and Freddy Manuel Hernandez (pictured), 31, of New Brunswick was taken into custody.

He was charged with burglary, theft, hindering apprehension; he also had outstanding warrants for previous burglaries. North Brunswick police said they found evidence on him from the car break-ins.

Then on Sunday, at about 9:22 p.m., police were called to a new car break-in on Wood Avenue. While on the scene, police were advised of another similar burglary nearby. A man was found nearby and was found to be in possession of stolen proceeds from one of the burglarized vehicles, police said.

Jerome Griffin, 50, also of New Brunswick, was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen property.
