Middlesex County Develops New Map To Discover Local Produce
Through the new interactive map, "Grown in Middlesex County", the County hope to promote local produce and producers.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – Middlesex County announced Tuesday it has developed a new interactive map that will help residents identify the nearest farmer’s market or apple orchard.
“Grown in Middlesex County” is an online guide to the County's growers and agricultural producers.
From farmers' market, Halloween pumpkin, fresh apples to fall flower, Christmas Tree farms and vegetable transplants — residents can find the nearest location at the tip of their fingers.

“Locally grown produce isn’t just a trend, it’s environmentally friendly and a major part of our local economy,” Middlesex County Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios, said in a statement.
The interactive map was created with help from the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County, which acts as the County’s source for agricultural news and advice.

“Middlesex County farmers have been some of the most progressive pioneers in direct marketing agricultural products in the nation,” said William T. Hlubik, Middlesex County agricultural agent and professor for Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Middlesex County.
"Our growers have taken the lead in producing some of the very best farm products and offering exciting agritourism opportunities for the entire family,” he said.
