Mosquito Control Spraying Set For East Brunswick, South River Wednesday

EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ — The Middlesex County Mosquito Extermination Commission will conduct truck-based spraying for adult mosquitoes in East Brunswick and South River on Wednesday, weather permitting.

The spraying, known as ultra-low volume (ULV) application, is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. and will target the area between Main Street, Route 18, and the South River municipal border. A rain date is set for Monday, Aug. 31.

Crews will use the product Zenivex E4, according to the commission. The treatment is being conducted in compliance with the New Jersey Pesticide Control Code, and all applications will follow product labeling requirements.

The commission recommends residents take several precautions during spraying, including staying indoors with windows closed, turning off window air conditioners' vent settings and fans, and bringing pets, children's toys and outdoor items inside. Residents who must be outside during treatment should avoid direct contact with the spray and immediately rinse any exposed skin or eyes with water.

Surfaces sprayed with the pesticide should be avoided until they have fully dried, a process that typically takes about an hour, the commission said.

Residents seeking advance notice of spraying can request it from the pesticide applicator at least 12 hours ahead of treatment, except in cases of quarantine or disease vector control, when conditions may require faster action.
