New East Brunswick Police Chief Announced
Captain James Conroy will replace retiring East Brunswick Police Chief William Krause.

There’s a new boss in town.
Starting January 1, 2016, Police Captain and Commander of the Investigative Division James Conroy will serve as the East Brunswick Chief of Police, Mayor David Stahl announced.

“I cannot thank Chief Krause enough for his years of dedicated service to our community,” said Stahl. “He is leaving big shoes to fill, but fortunately we have no shortage of highly qualified candidates within our own ranks to choose from.”
During the selection process, all three East Brunswick Police Captains were given the opportunity to interview for the position of Chief.

Conroy served as a Patrolman in East Brunswick after he graduated from the Somerset County Police Academy in 1994. He rose through the ranks, serving in multiple leadership positions including Field Training Office, Drug Recognition Evaluator, Squad Supervisor, Training Facility Range Master, Station Commander and Commander of Special Operations. He currently serves as the Commander of the Investigative Division.
Conroy also served as a sniper on the SWAT team, is a firearms and rifle instructor and instituted the East Brunswick Police Department’s first Patrol Rifle Program.
He has a degree in Marketing from Rider University and a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Training and Development from Seton Hall University.
