East Brunswick Public Library (2 Jean Walling Civic Center) was selected to be one of forty stops on a nationwide tour of the All of Us Journey, a traveling educational exhibit of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) on Saturday, May 4 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The exhibit will be located in a 40 foot trailer that will be parked in the Senior Center parking lot in the rear of the library building
All-of-Us is a bold medical research initiative of the NIH called Precision Medicine that will revolutionize the prevention, cure and treatment of disease. All of Us is looking to capture the health data of millions of people to learn how individual differences in lifestyle, environments and biology shape one’s health.
The future of disease treatment, cure and prevention will no longer be a “one size fits all” approach. Precision Medicine will uncover paths to good health that treats each unique person. The Precision Medicine initiative began with President Obama’s announcement in his State of the Union Address in 2016 for a $215 million investment that would revolutionize how we improve health and treat disease.
