For seven years, Fosteen Brathwaite, a 69-year-old Avenel resident, endured worsening knee pain that eventually kept her up at night. The former residential care worker, who spent 26 years on her feet, was devastated to learn that the cartilage in her knees was gone.

Her search for relief led her to orthopedic surgeon William Baione, M.D., at Old Bridge Medical Center. Though scared about the prospect of surgery, Fosteen was reassured by Dr. Baione's confidence and compassionate care. She underwent two separate knee replacement surgeries, one in October 2023 and the second in January 2024.

With the support of her son and the hospital staff, including her nurse Joanna, Fosteen committed to her recovery and physical therapy. Now, she is getting used to her new knees and is excited to dance again, free from the pain that once limited her life. Click here to read the full story.
