Police, Paramedics Use Narcan To Save Overdose Victim In Middlesex County

New Brunswick police officers and paramedics used Narcan to revive an overdose victim on Sunday, police said.

According to a news release from Capt. J.T. Miller:

Around 5:15 p.m., police were called to an alley on the 200 block of Baldwin Street after getting a report about an unconscious man who may have overdosed on drugs.

When police arrived, they found Roberto Maldonado, 34, of New Brunswick unresponsive. His lips and skin were blue and his breathing was faint. The officers saw signs that suggested he “recently introduced an opiate narcotic into his body.”

Police administered a dose of the nasal spray to him, but he remained unresponsive. Then, Emergency Medical Service personnel arrived and administered a second dose of Narcan, intravenously.

He soon become responsive and was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in the city for treatment.
